Virtual Games to Play with Friends and Family!
(Originally posted on LinkedIn)
Now, more than ever, we are searching for a way to stay connected with our friends and loved ones. What better way to have fun at home, than hosting a virtual game night? Online games are a great way to get together with those you care about most to focus on having a good laugh (which we could all use right now). Here are some ideas on how to have a good time with friends while staying safe inside your homes.
1. Jackbox Games
Jackbox is an online forum that facilitates multiplayer games with friends and family. They are taking huge initiatives to bring fun and laughter online and are offering some great deals. They have games like Drawful 2 which challenges players to draw hilarious prompts while the others guess! Or Fibbage XL (a game you can play with as many as eight). The game involves fooling your friends while you all try to figure out the correct answer to a question out of a pack of lies. To play remotely, share your computer screen on a video conference while one person streams their game. Click HERE to read more about what they're offering!
2. Houseparty App
The Houseparty app allows you to facetime with a group of your friends (who must also be logged into the app) from your smart device. You can play games such as Chips N Guac (a similar game to Apples to Apples) or Quick Draw (guess the drawing!). You're able to change your preferences, allowing other friends who log in to jump into the fun, too.
3. Mario Kart Tour
Mario Kart Tour is completely free if you play the standard version! You have to make sure your friends are registered on your friend's list and challenge them to a game. The app version isn't the same as it is on a console, but it's still a fun (and nostalgic) way to race up to seven of your friends at a time!
4. Personalized Trivia Game
Triviamaker.com allows you to create your own trivia games! Anyone can create their own game once they have a TriviaMaker account, and once you've created a game you can share it and play with your friends while video chatting. To make things even more interesting, you can even "take a sip" every time you or your team get the answer wrong!
5. Netflix Party
If games aren't your thing, try out Netflix Party! This app lets multiple users watch a TV show or movie at the same time. You are able to have a chat room next to what you're watching so that you can comment without interruption. You will all still laugh (and cry) together, while eating popcorn, of course!
