Retail giant builds Epic training program
from the ground up in eight weeks
Our client, a giant in the retail space, chose to implement Epic’s Foundation system and immediately customize it for their needs—an approach that resulted in constant, ongoing iteration. A year after implementation, there was no training program or team in place. To keep pace with their site opening schedule and ensure strong Epic adoption, they needed to develop a training program that could respond dynamically to their highly iterative environment. The program would have to incorporate a wide audience, including clinical medical, clinical dental, patient access, behavioral health, and telehealth user groups. In addition, it would have to be ready for rollout in eight weeks, compared to a typical 8-month development timeline.
Project Scope
TruTeam partnered with our client to provide highly skilled Principal Trainers that could build the entire program from the ground up, including all curricula, content, and resources, as well as the MST environment and Epic Learning Home dashboard. Since the build optimization effort was still in flight and producing updates on a regular basis, the PTs had to operate alongside the analysts to ensure any build changes with training impact were identified and cascaded to the program. As the program neared rollout, TruTeam identified Credentialed Trainers who were strong educators well-versed in operating autonomously across multiple geographies and user groups to support classroom and at-the-elbow training.
Services
TruTeam successfully delivered all milestones for the program and our consultants were extended to support ongoing site openings and go-lives. Our client anticipates doubling their business in 2024, with more expansion in 2025 supported by TruTeam as the exclusive Epic partner for the training team.
