How to Create an EPIC LinkedIn Profile!
(Originally posted on LinkedIn)
Ever wonder why your profile isn't standing out to recruiters and hiring managers? Here are some quick tips on how to make your profile EPIC!
Have a professional profile photo
Think of your profile picture, as your first impression! Look how you would on an Interview in your photo. Even with a cellphone, you can take a great photo with the proper lighting. Make sure the background is a solid color, or clean looking.
Clean it up and keep it up-to-date!
Make sure your profile is organized and updated in real-time.
Add Certifications (and dates), Proficiencies, Education, Awards, Badges, etc. to your profile
Provide a detailed summary of your experience and what you might be interested in hearing about
Think of this section in the same way you would answer the question, "Tell me about yourself" on an Epic interview. Speak to your technical skills and soft-skills. Add a summary of your experience, including the depth of knowledge within each Epic application. For example "I have successfully completed three full-cycle Epic implementations and have six years of experience in build and optimization for Epic's OpTime module". Speak to your overall clinical experience in Healthcare (if applicable). Add what types of opportunities you would be interested in hearing about (consulting on the west coast, FTE on the south, etc.).
Add all job duties for each role
As you know, there are a lot of specific qualifications for certain roles. One small bullet point can define if you are a fit for a role! Make sure to include at least three bullet points detailing your experience and/or a brief summary for each previous Epic position held.
If you are open to new opportunities, add your email and phone number to contact info
This is the number one way to hear about amazing new Epic opportunities.
Add your resume to your profile
You can attach it to your profile. This is a way to get ahead of what a hiring manager or recruiter will ask for before an internal interview!
Attach references and ask for recommendations from former employees and managers
This is a way to stand out to a potential employer.
How to do this: At the bottom of your LinkedIn profile, click "ask for recommendations".
Add Epic as your background photo
This is a clear way to say, "I have Epic experience!"
Make sure your job titles are detailed and include "Epic" when applicable
ex. "Epic Ambulatory Analyst" "Epic Interface/ Integration PM"
Connect with other Epic professionals and stay active!
This gets your profile out there! Like posts, join Epic groups, and stay active on your profile!
