Hiring in general can be difficult, but the Epic FTE (full-time employee) market is getting increasingly competitive. Epic candidates know they can be picky when it comes to choosing their employer and it's important for organizations to stand out if they want to attract the best of the best. Here are a few factors that can play a critical role in attracting and retaining talented Epic FTE's.

  1. Growth Opportunities

Most Epic professionals are looking to expand on their experience and knowledge within their area of expertise and/or with additional Epic applications. Offering to sponsor additional certifications or experience in different areas/projects that will all Epic professionals to grow is always a huge selling point! The other way to do this is to offer a structured career path for all professionals that shows them exactly where their hard work will get them. The best part about it is...as employees expand on their experience/knowledge, your organization reaps the benefits of their added value! Win/win.

  2. Flexible Schedules

What we love about this one is that it costs employers absolutely nothing! More and more organizations are offering flexible work hours and/or remote working opportunities to their employees and we're seeing this quite often with health systems across the country. While some people do enjoy being in the office every day, many employees really appreciate the opportunity to skip the daily commute and be trusted to get their work done from their home office. Another perk is offering flexible hours so employees can cut their driving time in half or catch their kid's sports games after work. Worried about taking the leap into flexible work schedule offerings? Try offering your employees one or two days a week remote and see how it goes!

  3. Culture is Key

If you want to attract and also retain top talent, there has to be a focus on your corporate culture. When employees feel supported, empowered, connected and inspired, there's a high likelihood they're not going anywhere and Epic professionals are no exception. While Epic's market-share is expanding at a rapid pace, it's still a small world in this industry and word of positive and/or negative cultures travels fast. As a leader, it's important to tap into how your employees are feeling and to come up with creative ways to keep your teams connected and engaged.

  4. Compensation Package

For many people, compensation isn't everything, but that doesn't mean it's irrelevant. The nation's top Epic professionals have worked hard to get experience in their specific area of expertise and/or to obtain certifications that will allow them to progress in their careers. It's important to keep track of your local Epic competitors to make sure you're in a position to attract and keep experienced employees. Sign-on or annual bonuses, relocation packages, tuition reimbursement, benefits packages, etc. all come in to play as powerful factors as well!
