The holidays can be a crazy time of year! We are already juggling holiday shopping, events, and family gatherings. Adding job searching on top of that can very quickly become overwhelming and daunting. Most people may think that this time of year is when companies stop hiring, but that is not the case! Hiring doesn't ever stop and the slower holiday season for some companies might actually give them more time to hire. During this time, job seekers also stop looking for work which might give you the upper hand in landing your dream job. Here is some helpful information to help your job seeking during the holidays!

Companies Are Still Hiring

While it's true that some searches slow down or get put on hold, plenty of hiring still happens around the holidays. In fact, some hiring managers are looking to fill their positions before the new year or want someone to start right after the start of the year. This is the time of year companies are receiving their budget for the next year and want to start looking for candidates to onboard. There are plenty of searches for the right person still going on, with candidates being interviewed and offers being made throughout the month of December and into the start of January. Don't ever stop applying!

There Will Be Less Competition

Many job seekers stop actively looking for work around the holidays, so you usually will find that you have less competition for the jobs you're seeking. Take advantage of this! Keep your job search going during this time, and you could have a higher chance for an interview that you may not have gotten during another time of year! The candidate pool tends to become more competitive after the new year.

A Temporary Seasonal Job Could Become Permanent

If you are hired for a temporary job, there's a potential it could become long-term if you make a strong impression. This time of year, companies typically hire seasonal workers because of the holidays and for the many people that are on vacation. If you work hard and make a great impression, it could be hard for them to let you go. Keep these tips in mind!

If You're Hired, You Might Start After the Holidays

While plenty of employers are making job offers this month, many of them are setting new hire start dates for after the new year. With many staff members away on vacation, it can be hard to have someone new start when no one is around to train them. So if you get an offer in the month of December, you might be able to enjoy a break over the holidays – with no more job searching to worry about and no work to do until January.
