1.) Create A Designated Workout Space
Being at the gym, you need space to work out and you need all your tools next to you to complete a solid workout. Make sure you leave enough space to move comfortably! If you don't have enough space, push the furniture to the side and make sure you have enough room without bumping or hitting anything during your workout. Also, make sure to have your room organized with your workout gear: weights, yoga mat, foam rollers, resistance bands, etc. The worst thing you can do is have the room a mess while trying to work out. Stay organized!
2.) Take Your Workout Outside!
There is no better place to work out than outside in nature. There have been studies that have shown that physical activities outdoors can lower a person's blood pressure and heart rate. This makes exercising outside feel less strenuous than similar exercise indoors. Plus, if you don't have room in your apartment or house for exercise, you have all the room you want outside. 3.) Equipment-Free Workout
Your workout at home doesn't need to be overly complicated and you can get in a great workout without weights. Jumping jacks, pushups, squats, burpees, sit-ups, and running in place can lead to a successful workout without using any weights. There are hundreds of great workout you can find online at home that don't require weights, here are a few.
4.) Stream Online Workouts
Download apps or stream full-length workouts online from your tv, smartphone, or computer without ever having to join a class at the gym again! Some of the best workouts you can watch are on YouTube. You no longer need to pay outrageous amounts for a class that you might hate! Some sites that offer great online workouts include Daily Burn, Tracy Anderson, Alo Moves, Booya Fitness, Gaia. Some of these sites you can start out with a 30-day trial to even see if you like it before signing up to become a member.
5.) Try Something New!
While in the comfort of your own home, you'll have free range to try a workout that you might not feel comfortable doing at the gym. Make sure you try new moves or new variations of classic exercises like pushups and squats. With nobody watching, this can be a perfect time to practice exercises you’re not as confident in.
Working out at home is convenient, inexpensive, and can be effective if done right. Using these five tips and taking the simple measures to optimize your home workout can make all the difference to a more comfortable and accessible workout environment than you are used to!
