Epic Module Name Changes
(Originally posted on LinkedIn)
Last year was a big year for Epic and with that comes a few changes and updates. Here are a few of the changes that Epic has recently made in regards to what certain modules are now called:
EpicCare Home Health – (Dorothy)
Formerly known as Dorothy, this module is used in a home health setting. Visiting caregivers (nurses, PT, OT, etc.) document care done at the patient’s home. This module allows caregivers to document all appropriate information on their local laptops even if they may not have appropriate internet connection. After all information is documents, the caregiver can reconnect to their organization’s network and all data syncs and uploads to Epic’s main servers.
EpicCare Inpatient – (ClinDoc)
This Epic module is very similar to that of EpicCare Ambulatory, except that all clinical tasks (notes, orders, medication administration, etc.) are done in the hospital on admitted patients.
Epic Bugsy – (Infection Control)
This module is the infection control module for Epic. It assists in reporting tools needed to monitor patients at risk for infection, patients that need isolation and with antimicrobial processes. Bugsy also integrates with Beaker, Epic’s laboratory system for a hospital lab.
Epic Caboodle – (Cogito Data Warehouse)
This is the data warehouse of Epic used to store and retrieve large amounts of clinical data. This data can be used to provide reports from managing costs to support care decisions.
